Where should the electrical wires in the distribution box be connected

In a distribution box, phase wires connect to MCBs or RCCBs, neutral wires connect to the neutral link, and earth wires connect to the earth link, ensuring safe and organized power distribution.Key Components and Wire ConnectionsPhase (Live) Wires: The incoming phase wire from the main supply or energy meter is first connected to the main isolator or main MCB. From there, it is routed to the RCCB (Residual Current Circuit Breaker) if used, and then distributed to individual MCBs for each subcircuit. Single-pole MCBs disconnect only the phase wire, while double-pole MCBs disconnect both phase and neutral for higher safety during maintenance or fault conditions . Neutral Wires: The neutral wire from the main supply is connected to a neutral bus bar or neutral link. From this link, neutral wires are distributed to each subcircuit connected to single-pole MCBs. In setups with an RCCB, the neutral from the main supply passes through the RCCB before reaching the neutral link, ensuring leakage protection . Earth (Ground) Wires: All earth wires from the supply and subcircuits are connected to the earth bus bar or earth link. This provides a safe path for fault currents to dissipate into the ground, protecting both equipment and personnel. The earth link is connected to an earth rod or pit outside the building for proper grounding .Wiring Sequence and SafetyMain Supply to Main MCB/Isolator: Connect phase and neutral wires from the energy meter.Main MCB to RCCB: Phase wire goes to RCCB input; neutral wire also passes through RCCB if used.RCCB to Branch MCBs: Phase wires are connected in parallel to each MCB; neutral wires go to the neutral link.Subcircuit Distribution: Phase wires from MCBs feed lighting, sockets, or appliances; neutral and earth wires are routed accordingly.Earthing: Ensure all metallic parts and protective devices are properly grounded to prevent electric shock .Additional ConsiderationsWire Sizing: Choose wire sizes based on load current and MCB ratings to prevent overheating.Labeling: Clearly label each MCB and corresponding circuit for easy identification.Safety: Always turn off the main supply before working inside the distribution box. Use insulated tools and follow local electrical codes . Proper wiring in a distribution box ensures efficient power distribution, protection against overloads, and safety for users and equipment.
