Hardware Failures Defective SFP modules, switches, or ports may fail to maintain proper link timing. For example, a port negotiating a speed different from the expected rate (e.g., a 16 Gb port falling back to 8 Gb) can trigger LOS events . Worn or misaligned latching mechanisms on connectors can also contribute . 3.
