These components absorb tensile stress during installation and environmental changes .Outer JacketThe outer jacket encases all internal components, protecting the fiber from moisture, chemicals, UV light, and physical damage. Materials like polyethylene or flame-retardant compounds are commonly used, depending on whether the cable is for indoor, outdoor, aerial, or direct-burial applications .Additional FeaturesSome optical fiber cables include ripcords for easy jacket removal, water-blocking elements to prevent moisture ingress, and multiple buffer tubes for high fiber counts.
