How to turn off a fiber optic sensor

How to turn off a fiber optic sensor

You can turn off a fiber optic sensor signal by using the amplifier unit's OFF key or adjusting the output settings to deactivate the signal.Using the Amplifier Unit ControlsMost fiber optic sensors, such as the Panasonic FX-100 series, have an amplifier unit that controls the sensor output. To turn off the signal:Press the OFF key when the sensor is in the object absent condition. This will deactivate the output signal and shift the threshold to a lower side if using a thru-beam type fiber, or higher side for reflective types .AUTO mode cancellation: If the sensor is in AUTO mode, pressing the OFF key can cancel the current light intensity setting, effectively stopping the sensor from sending signals .Adjust switching thresholds: Some sensors allow you to set the upper and lower switching thresholds. Setting these thresholds outside the expected light intensity range can prevent the sensor from triggering .Using Configuration MenusFor sensors with digital displays or navigation keys:Navigate to the output settings menu using the amplifier's keys.Select OFF or disable output for the desired mode (ON-Delay, OFF-Delay, or standard scanning).Confirm the setting by pressing the enter key. The sensor will stop sending signals until reactivated .Physical Disconnection (Optional)If temporary deactivation is needed and the amplifier unit allows it:Disconnect the fiber cable from the amplifier input. Ensure the amplifier is powered off or follow safety precautions to avoid exposure to the laser light .This method is generally used for maintenance or testing and should be done carefully to prevent damage to the fiber or amplifier.Safety ConsiderationsAlways avoid direct eye contact with fiber optic light sources, as they can cause eye damage .Ensure that turning off the sensor does not compromise safety systems, especially if the sensor is part of a critical process. By using the OFF key, adjusting thresholds, or configuring the amplifier menu, you can safely turn off the fiber optic sensor signal without physically removing the sensor.
